Make Personalized Thanksgiving Place Cards

Thanksgiving is all about gathering around the table, sharing delicious food and making memories with the people we love. And what better way to make everyone feel extra special than with a handmade place card?
These adorable DIY Thanksgiving place cards are a fun and easy way to add a little extra cheer to your holiday table. Make them dainty, make them silly. Whatever you make, your guests will be delighted by the personal touch.
All you need is some cardstock, a handful of autumn-inspired stickers, and a little creativity!

What You'll Need

  • Kraft cardstock or any color of your choice
  • Alphabet stickers
  • A selection of Thanksgiving and fall-themed stickers
  • Scissors or a paper trimmer
  • A ruler
  • Bone folder (optional, for neat folds)

Step 1: Create Your Place Card Base

Cut your kraft cardstock into rectangles. We recommend approximately 4 x 6 inches, but you can make them larger or smaller depending on your table setting.
Fold each rectangle in half to create a tent-style card that can stand upright on your Thanksgiving table.
If you're making several place cards, cut and fold them all at once so they're ready to decorate.
Tip: Use a ruler and bone folder to create a crisp fold. This will help your place cards stand neatly without toppling over.

Step 2: Spell Out Your Guests' Names

Use colorful alphabet stickers to spell out each guest's name across the front of their place card.
Arrange the letters in a straight line for a classic look, or play around with different angles for something a little more whimsical.
We love mixing colors like pumpkin orange, mustard yellow, rosy pink, and forest green to create a cheerful autumn palette.
For longer names, try positioning the letters diagonally or using slightly smaller stickers to make everything fit.

Step 3: Add Some Autumn Sticker Magic

Once your names are in place, it's time to decorate!
Choose stickers that capture the cozy, colorful feeling of Thanksgiving.
Here are a few of our favorite ideas from our sticker collection:
  • Falling Leaves & Acorns: Surround names with warm-toned leaves and tiny acorns for a classic autumn look.
  • Thanksgiving Turkeys: Add a couple of feathered friends, along with hearts and little feathers for a playful design.
  • Harvest Favorites: Smiling corn, butter, and popcorn make a wonderfully quirky combination.
  • Autumn Florals: Combine decorative folk-art florals, pumpkins, and sparkly stars for a more whimsical, vintage-inspired look.
  • Cozy Fall Treats: Mushrooms, pinecones, apples, and slices of pie are perfect for celebrating everything we love about the season.
You can give every guest a different theme or use the same stickers across all your cards for a coordinated table setting.

Step 4: Let Your Stickers Pop!

Here's a little trick that makes these place cards extra special.
Instead of keeping every sticker within the edges of your card, let some of the larger designs extend above the top fold.
Leaves, turkeys, mushrooms, and other larger stickers are perfect for this!
Simply position your stickers so part of the design sits above the edge of the card, creating a fun dimensional effect.
If your stickers are particularly delicate, stick them onto a piece of cardstock first, then carefully cut around the shape for extra support.
Tip: Try layering smaller stickers around your larger designs to create a little scene. A turkey surrounded by feathers and hearts, or a collection of leaves and acorns, can make even the simplest place card feel extra thoughtful.

Step 5: Set Your Thanksgiving Table

Once you've decorated all your place cards, it's time to display them!
Position each card at your guests' place settings, either above their dinner plate or nestled beside a folded napkin.
Pair them with miniature pumpkins, colorful autumn leaves, pinecones and cozy table linens for a wonderfully festive Thanksgiving setting.
And don't forget to make one for yourself!

A Little Keepsake to Take Home

One of our favorite things about these handmade place cards is that you don't have to throw them away once Thanksgiving dinner is over.
Encourage your guests to take theirs home as a little keepsake from the day.
They can tuck them into a journal, display them on a shelf or even reuse the stickers and cardstock in a future craft project.
You could also write a little message of gratitude inside each folded card, sharing something you appreciate about that person. This thoughtful surprise makes the place cards even more meaningful.

Make It a Thanksgiving Tradition

Whether you're hosting a big family feast, celebrating Friendsgiving or enjoying a cozy dinner with a few loved ones, handmade place cards are a lovely way to bring a little creativity to the table.
You could even turn it into a pre-dinner activity and invite everyone to decorate their own!
So gather your favorite fall stickers, pop on a cozy playlist and get crafting.
After all, the little details are often what make the sweetest memories.
