DIY Animal Washi Tape Holder

If you love washi tape and sending happy mail to friends, then level up your next letter with our adorable animal-shaped washi swap templates. 

These printable templates are easy to customize, fun to decorate, and perfect for adding a personal touch to your washi tape exchanges.

This project is an easy way to up-cycle materials you already have at home!

Materials

✔ Washi Swap Animals PDF template
✔ Cardstock or thin cardboard (this is a great way to up-cycle A Moonbow mailing envelopes, cereal boxes, etc.)
✔ Washi tape
✔ Scissors
✔ Pencil
✔ Eraser
✔ Markers, pens and any other decorating supplies.

Method 1: Print Directly on Cardstock

Printing your animal templates directly onto cardstock is a quick and easy way to create your DIY washi tape holders.

1. Print the template on a sheet of cardstock. You can choose the version with faces already printed or the blank version to add your own.

2. Cut out the animal shapes.
   

3. If you printed the blank version, add a cute face using your markers or pens.
   

4. Wrap a few strips of washi tape around the rectangular portion of the template.
   
   If the template is too long for your washi samples, trim the excess or use the extra space to write a little note to the recipient.
   
   

Method 2: Use Templates as a Stencil on Thin Cardboard

For thicker washi tape (like our Frosted Glitter Washi), using the template as a stencil on cardboard works best.

1. Print the template on plain paper or cardstock.
   

2. Cut out the animal shapes and trace them onto thin cardboard.
   

3. Carefully cut out the shapes from the cardboard.
   

4. Add a face using your markers or pens. If you want to make them just right, lightly sketch in pencil first.

5. Wrap a few strips of washi tape around the rectangular portion of the template.
   

6. Trim any excess length or add a personalized note in the extra space.
